Ok, maybe it was just me and my band of merry dorks but these are the best of Anne Rice's vampire writings. What an iron maiden the queen is and the king. Queen of the Damned was dense and a lot of expostion, almost a treatise on men have ruined civilization and women have to fix it by getting rid of them.
